Hummel Umbrella Girl 71/2-8" Porcelain Doll-1987 (Danbury Mint Collection).

Hummel Umbrella Girl doll, which has a soft body and porcelain head, hands, legs and feet. She is in excellent condition and measures just under 71/2-8" high.

Mint in box

Her head can turn into different positions Wearing a blue print dress and polka dot bloomers & white socks. Her brown slippers are included. The orange and brown fabric umbrella measures about 10" across and 10" high. On the back of her neck, under her hair, it reads "GOEBEL W. Germany 1987." Around her right arm is the gold circular Hang Tag reading "GOEBEL Aus Dem Hause."

Each M.I. Hummel figurine is a fine detailed work of art. Although many appreciate the visual aspects of these figurines, most are unaware of the true artistic skills that are used to create these magnificent works of art. There are essentially six steps in creating Hummels: sculpting, molding, casting and assembling, kiln firing, painting, and several in-process inspection checkpoints and a final inspection. It takes several weeks with about 700 hours of production for each M.I. Hummel figurine produced. Each step involves master skills. However, the final result is that a 2D drawing has been transformed into a 3D piece of art for all to cherish.
